what laws and principles make wireless technologies work?
Best answer:
Your invention has already been done. Marconi invented it about a hundred years ago or so. It's called "radio."Basically wireless technology also known as radio works due to Maxwell's equations. See

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maxwell_equationsactually it was Tesla, (Marconi lost his patent because he was not the first one). many experimented with some form of radio but Tesla was the number one. he even made remotely controlled boat which was sensation of the time. many didn't believe that radio can be useful (including Hertz). Tesla was (and still is) the only person on this planet capable of wireless power transfer (not just information) over considerable distance. some companies today are working to transfer very small amounts of power over very short range (about cm up to few meter). they are capable of wirelessly charging cellphone (cm or so) or even low power sensor (equivalent to car FOB - up to 4-5meter) but they are still long way from powering large electric motor that is miles away (which is what Tesla did).

wireless technology draws on basic principles of electromagnetic waves.
